Sooooo: One of the companies I applied to actually got back to me immediately. They called me the day after I sent them my résumé. Cool, right? I go back to actually read exactly what that job entailed. Everything looks good except for one tiny detail: Must be fluent in Spanish. I don’t know how I missed it - the qualifications list is the only thing I read before applying to a job.

No big deal, I thought. My Spanish level is listed as intermediate on my résumé, so they must be a little loose on the “fluent” thing. In the phone interview, I would just explain that I hadn’t spoken Spanish in several years, so I would be rusty. If they didn’t think that was good enough, fine. No harm, no foul.

Nope. They asked me to do a part of the interview all in Spanish. I handled some of the questions fine, but then he ramped up to full Hispanic speed I was toast, hombre.

So much for that job. Here’s hoping the other interview I have today is less of a train wreck.

Phone interview for a ridiculously awesome job at 2.

You probably know that I don’t get nervous much, but I think I am right now.

Afternoon of excitement! Watching a Star Wars: The Old Republic stream of the developers presenting and taking questions about the future of the game. I’m gonna keep sending in questions until they answer me.
There’s also a twitter feed going on leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3 at midnight, following a character we’ve met in the prequels as she is documenting the alien invasion that I (Shepard) will have to repel. It’s quite chilling @AllianceNewsNet.

Mass Effect 3 comes out in 4 days. I am having serious difficulties in waiting.
